GROUPS WITH PURPOSE
The Purpose Groups Ministry exists to connect people with God and others, because we are better together and we believe God created us to share life with others.
GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES
Matthew 28:19-20 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
KNOWING. GROWING. PRAYING. SERVING.
KNOWING
A successful group is one that strives to know each other deeply.
1 Peter 4:8 – “Above all, love each other deeply…”
GROWING
A successful group is one that strives to grow in the knowledge of the Word of God.
Luke 11:28 – “…Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
PRAYING
A successful group is one that strives to pray together.
Matthew 18:19-20 – “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
SERVING
A successful group is one that strives to serve our community and world.
Hebrews 10:24 – “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”
FACILITIES USE
In order to streamline our facilities use and booking process, we are aligning our groups to a three-quarter schedule.
THREE-QUARTER SCHEDULE
Our Purpose Groups are now operating on a three-quarter schedule (Fall / Winter / Spring) with a break in between each quarter.

The use of our facilities is only allowed during our scheduled quarters. If you wish to continue meeting together beyond our groups schedule, you are encouraged to meet off campus or virtually.
To book facilities, contact cherylf@purposechurch.com at least one month in advance of the start date, or simply fill out the feedback form at the end of every quarter.

PRACTICING THE WAY CURRICULUM
Highly Recommended for Fall 2024
The Practicing the Way Course is an introduction to spiritual formation. It features eight sessions of teaching, guided conversation, and spiritual exercises designed to lay a foundation for lifelong apprenticeship to Jesus. Here at Purpose Church, it is our vision to see Everyone Everywhere Following Jesus. This course gives us the practical tools we need to follow Jesus well.
The Practicing the Way Curriculum is housed in Right Now Media for easy access to the videos and course guide. In addition, you can learn more at practicingtheway.org/course.
SERMON-BASED CURRICULUM
Highly Recommended for Winter/Spring 2025
One of the great advantages of a sermon-based life group is that it exposes people multiple times to a passage, principle, or spiritual truth. It helps move them from the inspired and familiarity stages toward a working knowledge of God’s Word and biblical principles. AND it happens simply because the process makes everyone listen more attentively, encourages note taking, causes most people to review the sermon once again, and then ends in a spirited discussion with friends! This is why we highly recommend using this curriculum option for your group.
Sermon-based curriculum and discussion questions will be added by the Friday prior to the Sunday message (only during our 8-10 week quarters). This will allow you to discuss the sermon in your group the following week. Sermon-Based Curriculum is now being housed in Right Now Media!
OTHER CURRICULUM OPTIONS
RIGHT NOW MEDIA (video series resources/curriculum)
ROOTED (a great starting point for people new to following Jesus)
OTHER BIBLE & BOOK STUDIES (please run any ideas by our team beforehand)
MANAGING YOUR GROUP
THROUGH THE CHURCH CENTER APP
-Assure events are up-to-date every quarter
-Accept or decline new group member requests
-Contact new members or connect declined member requests to another group
–Complete weekly attendance report (VERY IMPORTANT!)
GROUP EXPECTATIONS
Everything said in the group is confidential unless the leader feels that there may be a situation that leads to harm to oneself or someone else. Our pastoral team is here to step in if you need assistance.
If the group starts to gossip about anyone or the church, direct the conversation elsewhere. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Ephesians 4:29
Please use your discernment and wisdom to lead your group through the social climate. We ask that you stray away from political topics and always point back to Jesus and Scripture.
Purpose Church reminds parents that when they gather outside of Church with their small groups or events, they are responsible for the supervision and monitoring of their own kids/students. Similarly, for events on Church campus where childcare is not available, parents are responsible for the supervision and care of their own kids/students.
