WE BELIEVE IN PRAYER & ACTION

“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.” – Nahum 1:7

In January 2025, wildfires tore across the greater L.A. area burning through homes, churches, businesses, and schools. Without warning, in the course of hours, individuals, families and entire communities have been left without homes, water, power, food, clothing and all of their earthly possessions. Many of us know someone who has been affected by this devastating disaster.

The need is great. Our God is greater. How can you help?

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY

Ways Purpose Church has been able to help those affected by the LA fires:

CLOTHING DONATIONS: In January, we received 9 pallets of clothing from Lane Seven, a clothing company, and we distributed over 2,500 pieces of clothing directly to families temporarily housed at the Fairplex and other agencies in the Altadena and Pasadena area. Additionally, we provided diapers, wipes, and toiletries to families being housed at the Fairplex.

FIRST RESPONDER SUPPORT: Our Purpose Kids wrote thank you cards to firefighters to encourage them for all their hard work and bravery when our city needed them most. In addition, we hosted a Kids Night Out for First Responder parents.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT: Through the generosity of Purpose Church, we have sent financial support to families affected by the fires. A family of 4 lost everything. The wife is a school teacher, and the husband is a recruiter, and Purpose Church sent funds to help this family. After her home burnt down, a woman was renting a place from a friend, and Purpose Church was able to pay her rent for 6 months. A man needed funds for transportation, as his new commute was much further due to relocation, and Purpose Church helped fund his transportation needs.

EXPRESSIONS CHURCH: In February, one of our main focuses was with Expressions Church Pasadena, a church whose building completely burned down in the Eaton fire. Not only were we able to financially support the church, but we also helped rebuild supplies that were lost. Through an Amazon Wishlist, we rebuilt their kids ministry, communion supplies, and hospitality ministry.

SAMARITAN’S PURSE: We have partnered with Samaritan’s Purse, an organization taking volunteers to help clean up the fire debris and fire damaged areas, and have donated financially to the organization as they continue their on-the-ground relief efforts.

FOUR WAYS TO PRAY

Gracious and loving God,
We lift up in prayer all those affected by the fires in Los Angeles. Surround the victims with Your comfort and strength as they face loss and uncertainty. For those who have lost homes, livelihoods, or loved ones, we ask for Your healing presence to bring peace to their hearts. Bless the first responders and all who risk their lives to save others. Grant them protection, wisdom, and courage as they serve. May communities come together in compassion and unity, offering support and resources to those in need. And may Your light guide them through the darkness, reminding them they are never alone.
In Your holy name, we pray. Amen.
